Description

A vibrant gift-box concept created with Makaroon for one of their flagship new products - Boxy and in cooperation with a pair of popular youth influencers. The visuals spotlight the box as a doorway to experiences - energetic graphics, bold type, and playful compositions that scale from print to social. The design set includes a key visual and other print collateral.

Background

My fruitfull working relationship with Makaroon produced a lot of great products, but arguably this was one of the most eye-catching. They commisioned me to design a vibrant, youth-ready design that would make the Boxy partnership with the influencers from Andy Studio feel collectible and giftable. Beyond the hero box, the bundle includes a voucher to pick one experience, an adventure diary, a poster signed by Andy & Dani, and a QR flow to browse the full selection - wrapped in clear messaging about validity and how to redeem.

The main focus was on the photo-manipulated master visual that has 276 layers. No AI tools were used while creating it. This was an old-fashioned Photoshop bashing. Beyond that I also created print layouts and tidy product shots that carry across the website and retail touchpoints.

Learnings

One of the most valuable insights I gathered while exploring this project was that for a creator-led product, authenticity beats gloss: bright color hits and motion-friendly compositions perform well, but readability, redemption clarity, and packaging ergonomics drive trust. Keeping typography disciplined and instructions simple helps the fun land - and gets more people from unboxing to their first adventure.

There was a fine line between "over-the-top" and "working good" for this project, but I feel like we never crossed it.
